ANNOUNCEMENT - October 2023

If you've rented from us in the past, you should have received a letter in the mail from us announcing that we will be switching our rental management company, effective October 16, 2023, from Bluewater to Emerald Isle Realty (EIR).   We are hoping to increase our off-season rentals with EIR and know that they will provide you great service if you choose to rent our home again.

Some other changes:

If you had a hold in place for 2024 with Bluewater, they should have contacted you to let you know that we are switching to Emerald Isle Realty.  We have arranged for several of those holds to be locked in at EIR, even before our listing goes live on October 16.  Please contact us if you would like help with this.

Please note that EIR uses a dynamic pricing model based on supply and demand, so booking early will allow the best chance to get the week you want at the most competitive rate.

If you would like to book our home again, please reach out to Emerald Isle Realty at (866) 586-6980 or https://reservations.emeraldislerealty.com/properties/emoceanal-rescue.

Important Info for Renters

INTERNET

The Wi-Fi router is located in the 2nd floor hallway, which is central to the whole house.  Consult the information sheet in the house or from Emerald Isle Realty for the current Wi-Fi ID and password.

FRENCH DOORS

Please exercise caution when opening any of the French doors by carefully holding the door.  Otherwise, strong winds may be present, resulting in the door slamming against the house and causing damage.   This is especially an issue on the pool deck!

POOL DOOR ALARMS

For any door that has direct access to the pool area you will notice a pool door alarm.  This includes the gameroom exit to the pool, and the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor.  The alarms are for the safety of your children.  Each time the door is opened, simply press the button within a few seconds, and the alarm will not sound.  Otherwise, you will hear the alarm until the button is pressed.

WATER FILTRATION

EmOceanal Rescue has a whole-home Kinetico reverse osmosis water softening system, providing you with around-the-clock clean, soft water whenever you need it.  Additionally, we have the K5 Drinking Water Station, which provides an unlimited supply of clean, refreshing water for all your cooking and drinking needs.  The drinking water station provides a separate faucet on the left side of the kitchen sink.  Additionally,it feeds water to both refrigerator ice makers, and in the case of the kitchen refrigerator, the water dispenser.

KITCHEN FAUCET FEATURES

The main faucet is touchless.  To use, turn the water on the usual way with the handle. Then, simply touching any part of the faucet (with your finger, elbow, or even forehead) will turn the water back off (or on).  Additionally, there is as glass/cup rinsing station on the right side of the sink.  Simply push your used glass or mug down in the device and get a quick rinse.

TVs

There are many TVs throughout the house.  Some have built-in smart TV capabilities, and some have the Amazon Fire Stick.  You are responsible to provide your own credentials to use services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Apple TV, HBO, etc.  We provide access only to YouTubeTV, with which you can get some live local channels, ESPN, and other channels.  To use YouTubeTV, open the app on the TV using the Amazon Fire remote.  Then select LIVE to see current live channels.  Please leave remotes in the same room as their respective TVs.  Be sure to log out of your own accounts before you leave!  And leave the Amazon Fire Sticks in the TVs where found.

LIVING ROOM TV SOUNDBAR

The Klipsch Cinema 400 soundbar has the following input source modes, as indicated by the LED light color on the soundbar: Bluetooth (Blue), Analog (Green), Digital Optical (Red), HDMI-ARC (Orange).  The TV audio comes into the Digital Optical (Red) source, so unless you are using the speakers for Bluetooth sound, the soundbar LED light should remain red for TV audio.

BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS

EXTERNAL: There are external Bluetooth-ready speakers outside the ground and upper deck levels.  These are for your enjoyment but are subject to Town of Emerald Isle noise ordinances.  Please be respectful of our neighbors and don’t play music too loud, which may result in a police visit or even fines.

The IDs for each speaker pair is the same (PyleUSA), so you will have to experiment to determine which pair you’re connecting to.  We recommend connecting to one (pool or 3rd floor), then go into your Bluetooth settings and rename the connection to "Pyle Pool" or "Pyle 3rd Floor."  Then repeat the process for the other set of speakers.  The renaming action will only apply to your device, so each user connecting to the speakers will need to do this individually.  Note: In the case of the 3rd floor speakers, the wall switch (inside, next to the sliding door) must be on to turn on the speakers outside on the 3rd floor deck.

INTERNAL: The living room TV also includes a Klipsch soundbar with subwoofer that provides excellent sound.  To put the soundbar in Bluetooth pairing mode, press the Bluetooth icon on the remote for 3 seconds.  Alternatively, you can manually press the Source button on the top of the soundbar until the light is blue.  Once the sound bar is in Bluetooth mode, you can connect to ID “Cinema 400” from your device.

CEILING FANS

It was so nice when ceiling fans were simply controlled with the wall switch and pull cords.  Alas, today's fans have wall switches and remotes.  All the fan remotes are mounted in their respective rooms.  Please leave the fan remotes in place so future guests may use them.

POOL

ABSOLUTELY, DO NOT jump into the pool from either of the decks.  Not only does this risk your safety, but neighbors may also report this, which may result in blocks against future rentals from Emerald Isle Realty.  The pool light is mounted on the wall next to the east side gate.  You can turn the light off and on and change the color theme.  Do NOT touch the pump or other pool equipment.  If you have pool issues, contact Emerald Isle RealtyEmerald Isle Realty will service the pool 2x per week by default.

TRASH

Trash pickup is Monday and Friday.  Recycling pickup is Wednesday.  If Emerald Isle Realty doesn't do this for you, please roll the relevant trash or recycling can(s) to the street before the scheduled pickup morning.  Then roll the can(s) back after pickup is done.  More info about Emerald Isle trash/recycling pickup: https://www.emeraldisle-nc.org/FAQ.aspx?TID=17

PARKING

The new driveway and carport should easily accommodate 6 vehicles.  Out of respect for neighbors who need road space for backing in their trailer, please do not park in the street on Robin St.

NIGHTLIGHTS

There are numerous night lights around the house, built into outlets.  These are found in bathrooms, darker hallways or staircases, and the kids' room.  If these lights are too bright or are a nuisance, the ones that have a light and a single plug can be turned off and on by pressing the light once.  Or they can be dimmed by long-pressing the light.  The outlets that have 2 plugs and a smaller nightlight cannot be adjusted.

LED MIRRORS

Both the king master bathrooms have LED light mirrors.  You can press buttons on the mirror to activate the lights and anti-fog mechanisms.  Sadly, if the temperature is showing Celsius, that is the default and only setting.

SAND

Like sand at the beach but not in the house?  Please try to utilize door mats in the foyer, leave shoes in the foyer, and vacuum the foyer or other floors on occasion in order to be able to walk around the house sand-less!

LIBRARY / OFFICE - AKA MIMMIE'S READING ROOM

The library features hundreds of books from our collection, donations from friends, and from Lori's late mother, Bonnie Jo Dillon (aka BJ, aka Mimmie), who passed away in 2020.  We love reading and believe a house without books is like a room without windows.  Speaking of windows, you can see both the Atlantic Ocean AND Bogue Sound from the library's reading nook!  If you start a book and aren't able to finish it during your stay, please feel free to borrow it and return it next season!

The desk and external monitor are for your convenience.  Both VGA and HDMI cables are provided and should be left once you depart.  But don't work too much - the beach is calling!

GAS GRILL

The gas grill is for your enjoyment.  Please be sure to pull it away from the house when using it.  Turn on the tank before using it, and off when done.  Please clean the grill when done so that the next guest can enjoy it!  Please put the grill cover back on to help the grill have a long life.  Call Emerald Isle Realty if the tank is out.

AMERICAN FLAG

We have left an American flag for your use on either of the three flag pole mounts we have.   Please honor and care for it.  Because it is illuminated, we will usually leave it up all night unless it gets too loud on windy nights

CORN HOLE

We provide corn hole boards for your enjoyment.  On the east side of the pool deck, we have marked out lines that are regulation 27' apart.  Feel free to setup your boards where you want, but please keep the bags out of the pool and rain!

HAMMOCK

We provide one hammock, but you have 2 options on where to put it.  There's a free stand that you can move around the pool deck.  Or you can also mount the hammock on hooks near the grill if you want shade.  Please bring the hammock in if there is a threat of wind or rain.

UMBRELLA ON PICNIC TABLE

Please put the picnic table umbrella down when not in use or when too windy.
